Milan and Design
Milan is undoubtedly the Italian capital of design!
Every year, in April, the city hosts the Milan Design Week, an international event that gathers architects, designers and tourists from all over the world! The “Salone Internazionale del Mobile”, the fair that promotes the Italian collections of the furniture industry and its accessories, is accompanied by the “Fuorisalone”, or rather a series of collateral events involving all of Milan. The city is filled with installations and exhibitions, the showrooms open up and become party venues and places to meet.
But what are the places that tell the history of design in Milan?
The Milan Triennale with the Design Museum and its exhibitions such as the one dedicated to Achille Castiglioni is a historical building dedicated to design. The Prada Foundation and those of well-known architects such as Albini and Castiglioni. The monumental villas like Villa Necchi Campiglio. Or the NABA and IED academies.
Cutting edge design can also be found in restaurants, hotels and shops. Galleries and art exhibitions are often held in futuristic buildings.
